FEBRUARY 14th

Candles burn to their silver held bases,

Eyes smile bright in their flickering light,

Gentle caresses upon one another’s faces

Kisses exchanged on a Valentines night,

Dinner for two,

Roses for one,

Gestures are clichés

That’s part of the fun,

Cards sent in hope by love weary souls,

Caught by convention to reach unreachable goals,

All that should be every day of the year,

Is saved for one evening,

For the one held so dear,

Tradition is one thing,

And fine in its way,

Love exists in each moment,

Not just Valentine’s day…
